Organizational Guidelines For Your Truck Service Body
The items stored within your truck service body are critical when performing field repairs. Failing to organize essentials could result in damage to equipment or the loss of work gear. Follow the guidelines below to classify and place items within the service body.
Create A Diagram
Assess the truck service body and count up the number of compartments that it contains. Afterward, inspect your truck's cab area. Space within the cab can ultimately be used for any items that do not adequately fit within the service body compartments.
Create a diagram that highlights each area where items are currently stored or could potentially be stored. As you are assessing your service equipment, you will be able to refer to the diagram. This may help you pinpoint which area would be best suited to store a particular item.
Empty The Service Body
If you haven't cleaned the service body in some time, there is a high probability that you will discover items that you forgot about. During the cleaning session, you may determine that some of the tools or work-related materials no longer hold a use value.
Before you get started, park your truck on level ground. Lay some tarps alongside the truck and empty each compartment separately. Place all of the equipment on the tarps. Use a commercial-grade cleaner and a lint-free cloth to remove dust and surface dirt from the inside of each compartment.
Organize And Repack Equipment
Inspect all of the items that were removed from the service body. Make sure that you have all of the hardware, cords, and other accessories necessary to operate each piece of equipment that you own. If any of the work gear is damaged or unnecessary for the job tasks that you usually perform, set it aside.
Classify the remaining items. Then, use your diagram to guide you in restocking the service body. Items that you use the most should be placed within storage compartments that will be easy to access. Items that are not used often should be placed in bottom storage compartments.
If you previously discovered some extra storage areas within the cab area, use these storage spaces for extra gear that does not fit well inside of the service body storage compartments. Bungee cords should be used to secure any large items that could possibly move around while you are driving your service truck. Use a lock to secure the door to each storage compartment.
